Pura Belpré (1899 – 1982) was an Afro-Puerto Rican educator who served as the first Puerto Rican librarian in New York City. She was also a writer, collector of folktales, and puppeteer.
Pura is the name of a (male) character from the Crash Bandicoot series of video games. He is a tiger cub that Coco can ride in the Chinese levels of Crash 3.
