ROXANA is the Greek form of an Iranian (Persian) name. The name is ROSHANAK which means "little star". ROSHANAK was the official wife of Alexander the Great and her name became popular in other countries. Since the original name ROSHANAK was hard to pronounce for Greeks, they changed it to ROXANA. The Iranian name Roshanak is a popular name in modern day Iran. It means "brightful/shiny" or "star".

I don't really like this name. It sounds like rocks Ann - On the rocks Ann.

Even though this is the original spelling, I feel Roxane is more youthful than Roxanne. This will most likely be the name of my second daughter, nicknamed Roxie. I think it is a lovely name, but should be paired with a softer middle name to take the edge off.
