From the Hebrew root שׁלשׁ (shlsh) meaning "3". Shelesh in the Old Testament is a son of Helem, the 8th son of Jacob, the 2nd son of Zilpah, and the brother of Shemer, who was a great-grandson of Asher. This name occurs only once in 1 Chronicles 7:35.
