This name is used as 園 (en, sono) meaning "farm, garden, park, yard."It's not known how popular Sono was in the early and middle part of the Edo period (1603-1868), but it was moderately popular in the latter part of that period. By the Meiji period (1868-1912), it dropped down in popularity, becoming uncommon by the end of that period and in the Taishō period (1912-1926).
