I really like the name Thaddeus. It's on my guilty pleasure list because it sounds so cool and in my opinion '70s, but it's not on my main list because it is going up in popularity. However, it is staying in the three figures, which is a happy medium.

Some people think the diminutive Tad is a "tad" boring, bland, or uncreative, but I love it. It sounds very much like the name of any normal guy, except with his quirks, slightly weirder than your average Mike but more on par with Jeff.

Feminine forms of this name include Thaddea or Thaddaea (English), Tadea (Spanish), Taddea (Italian), and Thaddäa (German).

I have also found these very unusual English feminine forms derived from Thaddeus: Thaddette, Thaddine, Thaddene, Thaddina and Thaddena. I just Google searched the names and found that there are women with those names.

The forms Thadette, Thadine, etc do not necessarily derive from Thaddeus. They are common Eastern Frisian feminine forms of the name Thade, deriving from Germanic names containing the name element THIOT "people".

I used to know a boy named Thaddeus back in elementary school. The name to most of us sounded harsh and disgusting, but now I rather like it. I think in today's day and age, Thaddeus is more suited as a middle or confirmation name rather than a first name.

It's derived from the Aramaic word "tadda", an appellation one would give to a close friend or younger sibling (literally, it means "breast" - but think of the phrase "bosom buddy" and you'll see why this makes sense). Henceforth, a very loose translation would be "friend".

More DC Comics stuff for everyone!

Thaddeus Thawne/Inertia, nemesis to the second Kid Flash, Bart Allen. I don't think it's coincidence that the two of them have Biblical names.

I'm madly in love with this name and, barring absolute contempt from my husband, am naming my first son Thaddeus, with the nickname Tadd. I think it's a very strong, masculine name that also doesn't prohibit fun.

"Thaddeus" comes from Aramaic "Thaddai" which means "braveheart" (a person of courage). This name was given by Jesus Christ to one of the Apostles, namely to Juda (do NOT confuse him with Judas the traitor).
