My husband is from Denmark and his middle name is Thormod (it can be spelled with or without the h). He says it means Tor's courage or bravery. A quick internet search turns up many other meanings as well. It is also not pronounced how it is spelled.

It's a good strong name that sounds like it came straight out of a fantasy book. I'd use it as a name for a character (maybe even the hero) in a fantasy story.
