It is pronounced as TAURR-stenn. The Taurr-sound is short, not long as in "door". If you pronounce it really lazily, it sound almost like TOSH-ten.

My friend knows a foreign-exchange student named Torsten. He pronounces it "TORE-stin", as in "door". I like this very much.

This name is modern, handsome and strong. A wonderful alternative to Thurston or Tristan - it's euro without being out of place in modern day UK or even USA.
