Meaning & History

Presumably directly taken from the Italian word, and medieval byname, veronese meaning "from Verona".

A known bearer of this name was Veronese della Scala, daughter of Mastino II della Scala, a 14th-century lord of Verona, sister of Viridis and Altaluna, who eventually married Giacomo Trissino.
