Means "wisdom, knowledge" in Sanskrit.

Not sure "discrimination" as a name meaning would go over very well, in most of America at least. People seem to be really touchy on anything bordering the 'judging' issue.

"Wisdom" is a more precise word in English for the Sanskrit word "Vivek". [noted -ed]

"Discrimination" here refers to spiritual discernment between what is real or important, and what is temporary and can be ignored. Or, between moral right and wrong. It doesn't mean "discrimination" in the sense of subjective judgment about worldly things.
