Yasu is the name of a sushi chef whose shop is just a few blocks away from me. But Yasu is a guy, so I guess it can feminine OR masculine.

Yasu is usually part of a longer name (either for man or woman) like Yasushi for a man or Yasuko or Yasue for a woman. In the case of Yasuko, it's often pronounced Yasuko (or Yazko).

"Yasu" can mean "quiet/calm", "quiet down" or "keep (for a very long time)", depending on the kanji chosen.
