[Opinions] I understand now... (m)
in reply to a message by Mie
I didn't know that was the reason, and I'm sorry if I came off as mean or anything. Since it's to honor your mother, then I'm all for it. I didn't know if it was for a naming theme, or if you just liked the nickname S.M. or something. Although, I do think the flow is more important, personally, but there's always away around that, and it would still honor the person, like keeping the first initial, using a different form of the name, or just changing around the order of the first and middle name. That's just my opinion, though.

It's no problemI think I understand what you were saying before. I knew a couple who named their child Andrew James just so they could call him AJ. To me that seems like a total waste. I only think initial nicknames should be used in cases where it's to distinguish the child, such as when he's named after his father or another family member. Or if the child itself later chooses to go by his initials. So I do know what you mean about building around initials. Right now the initial idea is just that an idea. It's not set in stone. Just something I'm considering if I have all boys. And I wouldn't use an S name just for the initial reason. I would have to love the name as well. Basically I would just use the middle name because of that reason. And I have more than enough time to figure out a naming plan. And who knows, my first child could end up being a girl and I could honor my mother with the middle name spot and wouldn't even have to worry about this. And I didn't think you were mean or anything. I do know understand your problem with themes. I dislike themes as well. :)
