In Germany it's very difficult to have your surname changed, and it usually costs a lot of money. Now I've met two people who had their last names changed - free. The reason is easy to see:

SCHWEINEBRATEN ("roast pork")
KÄSEBROT ("cheese sandwich")

Probably not the ugliest names you can think of, but still remarkable …
