This is just a guess, because I don't know it exactly...
I think that there is a connection with Breck (Celtic name meaning freckled). There's a Celtic diminutive ending -án. So maybe the original form of your name was Breckán which changed to Brecken in English? So the meaning would be "little freckled one".
