Caleb is my second favorite boy's name. It's strong, masculine, and classic, as are many OT male names. I think it's become popular because it has the trendy "ay" sound at the beginning. The "eb" sound at the end is reminiscient of Jacob. The meaning bothers me not one bit. The only time I ever discussed what my name meant was in high school, when I had to research the meaning of my name and have that meaning read out loud in front of the class. I think namenerds are the only people who really care what a name means; the wider public is indifferent.
