[Opinions] some Hebrew girls names
I'm interested in Hebrew female names which aren't too obvious (so Sarah, Rebecca and their variants are ruled out) and are easy to pronounce. I really like Zipporah and prefer this spelling to Tsipporah (I love its Italian form Zefora, but I think it sounds too much like the cosmetic store to be usable, what do you think?). I came across Meital, which I think has a very pretty meaning but is possibly too close to "metal" to be used. Avital is kind of growing on me but I'm not sure I really like it, perhaps because it's long . What do you guys think?

I think the obvious ones like Sarah and Rebecca are quite boring and I wouldn't use them. Of the names you mentioned I like Zipporah best, and I prefer Meital over Avital. Some others I also like:
Aliyah
Aviva
Chava
Chaya
Eliana
Lior
Maya
Mirele
Miriam
Moriah
Naamah
Nava
Noa
Sarai
Selah
Shaina
Shoshannah
Tamar

I don't like any of these names except for Sarah and Rebecca. I'm not sure if Joanna is Hebrew, but I know it is Biblical. I really like it.

My favorite Hebrew names are Yaffa, Tamar, and Shalom. I also like Michal (pr mih-CALL), although that may be too reminiscient of the uber-trendy McCall for some. Meital is also gorgeous. If it's pronounced like may-TALL then I don't think its similarity to metal is a problem. I wouldn't use Avital, though. It sounds like over-the-counter cough medicine.

That's funny, when I first heard Avital I also thought it sounded like a medicine, then I got used to it, I suppose...

Meital is absolutely lovely and I don't think of the word 'metal' in the least. I don't like Avital, but it's meaning is precious. How about Aviva?I noticed that you mentioned two names with dew in the meaning... How about Talila which means 'sun dew'?

Aviva is nice, I hadn't thought about it and Talila is interesting and could grow on me (yes, I like the dew meanings!). I also wanted to ask whether these names would look a bit odd on someone without a Jewish background.

I think they would be fine on someone without a Jewish background. I know lots of little Sarahs, Rebeccas, Rachels and Leahs who aren't Jewish and even though Aviva and Talila look more Hebrew than the aforementioned names, I think they would work fine.

I like Aviva.

Zipporah is pretty, but I tend to prefer the more traditional ones (Abigail, Miriam, Sarai, etc.) One more unusual one that I really like is Hadassah.

I really like Hadassah, and I actually like Abital instead of Avital -- and you could use Abby as a nn for it. Then, I love Miriam, Sapphira, and I'm in love with Adara right now

Mmmm... Abital, nn Abby is rather pretty. I also like Avigail and Elisheva.
