Help[Opinions] some Hebrew girls names
I'm interested in Hebrew female names which aren't too obvious (so Sarah, Rebecca and their variants are ruled out) and are easy to pronounce. I really like Zipporah and prefer this spelling to Tsipporah (I love its Italian form Zefora, but I think it sounds too much like the cosmetic store to be usable, what do you think?). I came across Meital, which I think has a very pretty meaning but is possibly too close to "metal" to be used. Avital is kind of growing on me but I'm not sure I really like it, perhaps because it's long . What do you guys think?

I don't like any of these names except for Sarah and Rebecca. I'm not sure if Joanna is Hebrew, but I know it is Biblical. I really like it.

My favorite Hebrew names are Yaffa, Tamar, and Shalom. I also like Michal (pr mih-CALL), although that may be too reminiscient of the uber-trendy McCall for some. Meital is also gorgeous. If it's pronounced like may-TALL then I don't think its similarity to metal is a problem. I wouldn't use Avital, though. It sounds like over-the-counter cough medicine.

That's funny, when I first heard Avital I also thought it sounded like a medicine, then I got used to it, I suppose...

Aviva is nice, I hadn't thought about it and Talila is interesting and could grow on me (yes, I like the dew meanings!). I also wanted to ask whether these names would look a bit odd on someone without a Jewish background.

I think they would be fine on someone without a Jewish background. I know lots of little Sarahs, Rebeccas, Rachels and Leahs who aren't Jewish and even though Aviva and Talila look more Hebrew than the aforementioned names, I think they would work fine.
