[Opinions] Lily
WDYT? I know most of you would say its way too over used and popular, but I've never actually met a Lily. So what do you think of the actual name?

I like it a lot, despite popularity, it's very pretty. I also like Lillian and Lilias (possibly nn Lily), but not Liliana.Bear in mind that you probably don't meet that many little Lilies because you mainly see people your own age, not toddlers. I could be wrong, but it's certainly the case for myself.

I love it. It's feminine and pretty, ages well and I haven't seen or heard a whole lot of Lily's around either!

I think it's beautiful and sweet. Sometimes I prefer it as a nickname for Lilia or Liliana.

I love it :) It's pretty and simple. I've never met a Lily my age, but I'm sure theres loads of little Lily , Lilly , and Lillies running round at the moment :)I hope Lily doesn't catch on too much, because It'd ruin such a lovely name.

I love the name! I don't think a beautiful name like Lily should not be used just because it is popular. I have never met a Lily either. I think it is such a pretty name!

I like Lily just fine own its own, and also as a nn for any variety of Lili- names. I've only met one Lily (my brother's ex-girfriend), but the stats do show that the name is pretty popular. If you have a deep love for the name or a person you're honoring, I wouldn't let popularity stop you. :o)

I think it's very feminine and pretty. The name is simple enough that it's not too frilly, just charming. I do know several little Lily's however (though I don't think I know any over the age of five) one of whom is my beautiful niece Lillian Ruth (Lilly). I guess I could be a bit biased... but I do like the fact that Lilly is her nickname and thus as it becomes more trendy and common, she has something else to fall back on. (A side note: Lillian is also honoring. I think it might be her great-great-grandmother's name?)

I am a little tired of it right now, but I do like it, it's very pretty and feminine without being too frilly. I only know one Lily, she's actually a Lillian, and she's eighty. :)

All of the Lillies I know (and there are quite a few of them!) are actually Lillians. They all range in age from thirteen years to about eighteen months.Even though I know it is popular, I like it a lot. Like RoxStar says, it's frilly but not too frilly.

Of the name itself? I like it--it makes me think of the comic genius Lily Tomlin, and that is never a negative. ;)However, the name is overused, and I have met quite a few little Lilies. So even if you don't know any, it's dollars to donuts your kid will.Array

Lily, popularity aside, is a sweet name, but I much prefer it as a nn.

I agree that Lily is a lovely name, simple and elegant like you've said.As for popularity though, there were 9545 Lily/Lilly/Lillies born in the U.S. in 2006, plus 9814 Lillian/Lilliana/Lilian/Lilianas who may use the nn Lily. After adding all that up, I would say it is even more popular than I had orginally believed. (All info found on the SSA website.)
Although I have never met a little Lily myself, it may simbly not be a common name in my area or yours. It is a popular name overall though, which shouldn't stop anyone from enjoying its beauty.

I know one girl my age, and one little girl name Lily, so at least it's not that popular in my circles. I think Lily is beautiful and so feminine. I would love it on a little girl born in the spring. It's also my boyfriend's number one favorite name.
