I used to like this, especially as a mn option. But nowadays, I feel I have "grown up" a little and realized that Blake is one that I feel should stay on the boys (as I feel about most, if not all, masculine names). I wouldn't LOATHE it, especially as a mn. But I think it would be too much as a fn.

I think Blakely is cute on a girl and maybe the spelling Blaike. But Blake is definitely masculine.

Is one of the most horrible names you can give a girlReally, it's a surname that's later used as boys' name. Plus it sounds extremely masculine.

NMS, I know a boy Blake. I am all for certain names on girls, that are boys names. This is not one sorry.

I've never seen it on a female, and personally, I don't like it. I do have a very, very distant cousin, female, named Blakely. She's probably about 12 or 13 now.

No way. She'll get teased and made fun of.
[[Just IMHO.]]

I met a beautiful little girl one time named Blake, and totally turned around on my opinion. She had LONG dark brown hair and big blue eyes. Since her, I think it's a really nice name for a girl.I do prefer it for a boy though.

Well most people don't really seem to like it all that much, but I do. It sounds as good on a girl as it does on a boy! I think I actually kind of like it better on a girl. With all this in mind, I wouldn't name my own child this.

I'm not a fan of surnames/masculine names on girls in general, so I vote no. I have seen it used, though. There has been a female character named Blake (I believe her fn is Christina and her mn is Blake, but she's called Blake) on the soap "Guiding Light". Also, I had a little girl named Alexandra Blake (her fn & mn) at a day care where I used to work, and she was called Blake. Her mom said she wanted to call her Blake all along but though Alexandra Blake sounded better than Blake Alexandra. :-/

I suppose it could be alright, but I prefer Blake for a boy 1000%.

I really don't see the appeal for a boy or a girl
