[Opinions] Leah?
I really love the name Leah. I used to like it for it's Star Wars connotations, but now I just really love the name. The pronounciation "LAY-uh" is my favorite. What do you think of the name? Do you like the Leah spelling or the Leia spelling? Thanks!

Leia, to me is lay-ah. It is actually a Yiddish form of Lea (leh-ah).
Leah with the h is nms.
Lia lee-ah is cute too.

I prefer the Leah spelling. The Leia spelling is sweeter but yes, it does remind me of Star Wars.

I'd say Leah as LEE-ah. Leia would be LAY-ah, but it's too Star Wars. What about Lea or Léa? I'd pronounce Lea as LEH-ah and Léa as LAY-ah.

Leia is too Star Wars-y, honestly. It's only a step off from naming your kid Anakin. (Which people do, and it makes me said...anyway.) However, Leah is LEE-ah to me, and that's how a girl named Leah will have her name pronounced. How about Léa (Lea)? It's pronounced LAY-ah.

Something I've noticed about the pronounciation...All of my Jewish friends (I'm Jewish myself) pronounce Leah "LAY-uh" based on the Hebrew when it's spelled out. Most others I know pronounce it "LEE-ah." Some still say it "LAY-uh", butpersonally, I've found it's less frequent among non-Jews.As pertaining to my preference, most definitely Leah. Leia not only has too many Star Wars connotations for my taste (not that that will matter for everyone) and also, it doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing to me. Too much vowel imbalance. I prefer Lia for "LEE-ah", as a NN for Liana or something of the like.

I like the Hawaiian name Lea "lay-ah", which people confuse with LEE-ah. Anyway, I love the pn you are using but I think it will be mispronounced constantly with the Leah spelling. On top of that, I really like the Leia spelling which has a little Hawaiian feel.

TO me if it is spelled Leah then it is prn Lee-uh, so I would go with Leia. It is a name I adore for its simple beauty and rare sound, and I fear that if it grew popular I would not like it so very much.

Leah has been my favorite girl name for quite some time now. I like the pronunciation lee-ah, however, so the Star Wars connection isn't that strong for me. (I wouldn't, though, use it in a sibset with Luke, one of my boy favorites, because that's too close to Star Wars.)
