I honestly had never thought of Violent when I heard Violet until I read your bulletin. So my answer has to be no.

Kind of, but I still love it.

Yes, unfortunately, whenever I hear the name I think of Violent Violet. It's quite sad, but it's kept me from liking a beautiful, classy name.

A little bit, but only if you really mumble it or if you've got a lot of earwax building up. :-)I love the name! Here's the good thing about Violet sounding like violent--(it's kind of cruel, but it could always be worse...) if you named your daughter Violet, you could call her Violent when she throws temper tantrums. :-PThis name's one of my favorites. It reminds me of Violet from Lemony Snicket and Violet from Harry Potter, the Fat Lady's friend who gets tipsy on Christmas eve.

A bit, yes. But I think of the flower and the attractive colour first. I like the name :-)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor"Actually, guns do kill people. Ever tried slapping a person to death?"

I don't like the name Violet coz it reminds me of that fat annoying girl from Willy Wanka and The Chocolate Factory.

Nope. When I hear/see it I think of a flower or the shade of purple.

Not really. I mean, I definitely see the similarity, but I don't think "violent" when I see or hear Violet by any means. I just LOVE the name, so I guess I'm able to see past that. :b

Yes, I noticed that a while back. It doesn't stop me from liking the name, but it would stop me from actually naming my child Violet.

It does, and I'd never use it for that reason

I was once writing a story in which a character was named Violet, and I did make the typo "violent", but it was just amusing. However, until then, I'd never associated the two words. Violet is a beautiful name, and if you're considering it for a daughter or a character in a story, go for it! It'll get far more compliments than snide remarks. ~heather

Yes... Violet is a beautiful name but add a letter and look what you get.
