[Opinions] It's an actual nickname for Jean (m)
My grandmother Jean used to get called Jinny by her Scottish relatives when she was a child. It's basically Jeannie but with the very short vowels you find in some Scottish accents (think of Billy Connelly saying it and you'll get the idea).If I have a daughter named Jean (which is touch and go at the moment, it might be a middle name), she'd be called Jinny.
