I like Sinead the best out of all of them. I'm starting to go through a Celtic phase, so Irish names are really starting to grow on me.

Sean -- I should like it. But I always thought it sounded too feminine. I'm glad the Sean spelling has taken root with the general public, though.

Seamus -- My dh's love of this name has made me love it. It has a devilish quality to it that I now love.

Shannon -- My niece's name. I know this was originally male and I do know an adult male Shannon. But I think of the Irish river and I'm used to geographic names being mostly feminine.

Maeve -- Love it. I'm so gad to see it's catching on. I listened to the book, "How the Irish Saved Civilization" on tape. There's a great section in there about Maeve in mythology that sold me on the name. I had no idea how powerful and aggressive a female character could be in folk lore. It was very refreshing.

Neve -- Niamh is my #1 name for a girl. I wish the Irish spelling was more user-friendly. The Neve spelling certainly is easier for most people. But I look at all the Shauns and Shawns that missed out on the Sean spelling and wonder if a Neve would regret that spelling one day.

Sinead -- If I had 3 girls they'd be: Niamh, Aoife and Sinead. I adore how soft Sinead sounds. There's something other-worldly about it. Gorgeous.

Maeve and Neve are the only ones I like. And Shannon's ok. Otherwise, I'm not a great fan of most Irish names, the spellings are weird and counterintuitive (yes, I know they're perfectly legit but they still don't make sense in English) and the anglicized versions often look tacky.

Out of the male names, I like Sean the best. Seamus has never been my style, and unfortunately, Shannon is commonly thought of as a girl's name nowadays.

I prefer Neve spelled Niamh and only ever spelled Niamh. Otherwise Niamh is my favorite girl's name. Sinéad is nice. I don't like Maeve as much because of its meaning. Shannon is a girl's name, Irish or not. I don't care for

I love Irish names. Out of those I like Sean. Maeve, Sineád, and Seamus are alright. I prefer Neve spelled Niamh because it looks nicer to me - no pointy v and nice round m and h. It's an okay name though. I can't give you an opinion on Shannon, as that is my name. :)
