[Facts] The name Atreyu

I'm thinking of changing my names and using Atreyu as the middle one. I met someone with this as a first name. It is certainly masculine. I am not sure of ethnic backround, but the person I met was of South American backround. Sorry for being vague, but I don't know which exact country he was from. I'm just interested to know the origin and meaning.
