I kinda like it but I prefer Malie. I think this name is the name of the older daughter of Democratic Presidential Candidate Sen. Barack Obama.

I don't like it because, like all short names that have many vowels, you will run into a ton of people who won't pronounce it correctly. Is it "mah-LEE-uh"? "MAH-lee-uh"? "Ma-LIE-uh"? "MAL-ee-uh"? This will lead to you only trying to find ways to incorrectly spell it so people can say it correctly, which inevitably will only lead people to misspell it and mispronounce it. You are much better off choosing a different name that the majority of people will not mispronounce. No, there is not a name that everybody will say correctly, but picking a name that will without a doubt get mispronounced is just silly.

I like Marino. I dislike Merrill and Malia. Malia makes me think of Malaria.

I love Malia (it's a guilty pleasure for me though). I don't like Marino and Merril though. For a few more sea type names, what about Marina, Meredith and Dylan?

I like it, but I prefer Amelia or Amelie to Malia.
