Help[Opinions] Kal-el? You have to be kidding!

I thought it would stop with Nicholas Cage's kid. I understand where the dads are coming from. As 10 year-olds this was the coolest name they could think of, but what are the mom's thinking? In my opinion hyphens are supposed to join two names like Anna-Sophia etc., not two syllables. Or maybe I'm crazy? :)
