[Opinions] WDYTO Vladimir?
I've liked this name for the past 9 years, and I wanted to know what you all thought of it. Are the associations with Lenin and Putin too strong? Does it sound like a communist? I know Russians have patronymics instead of middle names, but names feel incomplete if I don't pair them... so I like Vladimir Ilya. WDYT?

I love Vladimir and Ilya, especially together. A guy named Vladimir used to come into the restaurant where I work all the time to order carry-outs. I was giddy to hear his name the first time. I don't think it is too heavily associated with Lenin or Putin because it is such a common Russian name.

I'm really not a fan of Vladimir. It does make me think of Putin and a neighbour I hate. I do have a cousin Vlado though(named after his grandfather), but I don't like that one either.

After 1st yr. En. in college many moons ago, it's hard to hear that name without thinking of "Waiting for Godot".

If your not sure about Vladimir, what about Vlatko or Vladko? They both come from Vladimir, and are more modern. It is also fairly difficult to mispronounce in an english speaking country. I know someone called Vlatko and people tend to comment that it is a nice name :)Hope Ive helped

Vladimir is fantabulousIt's handsome. It's Russian. It's pointy. It's dark purple. There are so many great things going for Vladimir. But Vladimir Ilya, as fabulous as the combo sounds is NOT a fantabulous name. I'm sorry to be so harsh about that, but if you're really concerned about Vladimir reminding people of Lenin, I should warn you that Lenin's full name was Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. Totally not what you're going for. I don't think Vladimir itself sounds like a Communist name. That may just be because of my love for the name. It's such a great name.
