[Opinions] Fiorenza
What do you think of Fiorenza as a MN? The combo I've been tossing around is Mary Fiorenza (there is a great-grandmother Mary in my family tree). I prefer it to Florence for its fiery sort of feel. Any thoughts? Also, is Mary weird on a Jewish baby? If so, what FN would you suggest that might be more fitting (still with Fiorenza)?

Fiorenza's all right, but I find it a bit too frilly.I don't see an issue with a Jewish baby named Mary, after all techincally it is a Jewish name :) You might want to consider Miriam otherwise, or , if it doesn't flow with Fiorenza, Mara. But it's up to you. This reminds me a funny, or not so funny story that took place during the Italian racial laws, when my grandfather was apparently quite surprized to find out one of his acquaintances was Jewish because her name was Maria.

I don't find Mary strange for a Jewish baby, but Fiorenza might be a little over the top for a non-Italian one. Although I like Florence, Fiorenza is definitely more "fiery"! If you're feeling trendy you could also go straight-up unisex place name with Firenze.... although it sounds much better in Italian than with an English pronunciation.

Mary on a Jewish baby isn't weird at all - after all, Mary was Jewish! But if it does make you uncomfortable, Mara Fiorenza is beautiful, or even Miriam Fiorenza. Fiorenze itself is totally gorgeous. I do like Florence (and Flora) myself, but Fiorenza is a lovely variation. It has such a spice to it.

Mary Fiorenza is brilliant.

I don't like it. Enza sounds like it could be a nice name and Fiora, but mixed together, I don't like it. I love Mary! Mary Fiorenza is cute and I don't think Mary on a Jewish baby is weird at all. You could also use Mara or Masha.
