1. I think Miriam is old-fashioned, and I can't picture a little girl with the name.

I don't think Mariah Cecilia is TOO bad. If the double "A" sounds bother you, you could always go with Mariah Cecille, or Mariah Cecily. Better yet, Mariah Celine...but if you don't want her to be compared to two divas, you can spell it Selene.
Mariah Therese is also nice.
