I love Cassandra! How are you pronouncing it? I prefer the cah SAHN dra pronunciation, but the other is nice too.
I don't think the mythological tale makes this name any less attractive really.
I would not use a nn for Cassandra and it is not inevitable. You and your daughter will decide what she goes by. People get the hint quickly when you don't answer to a nn.
Oh and Cassandra Mary is pretty. If you and your husband agree, I say it's a winner.
