[Opinions] Selene.
I've suddenly really begun to like this name. It's not something that I'd normally go for, but after reading a book in which a set of twins were named Selene and Helios I've really dug it. (I love Helios as well, but I'll probably save it for a cat)WDYT? For some reason it seems to me to be less substantial than my other favorites - Judith & Miriam - so I'm hesitant to use it. Still I really do like it.

Was the book you read about Ant(h)ony and Cleopatra by any chance? They had twins named Cleopatra Selene and Alexander Helios. I find the names a bit cheesy together because of the meanings. I think they're fine as middle names.

YepA fictionalized account, but yes. I wouldn't use them together - and I probably wouldn't use Helios.

Selene is one of those names that I didn't always like. It gradually grew on me over the years and I really like it now. I find it quite pretty. Helios is also really cool.

It's nice. Very tranquil. Judith and Miriam do seem a little more solid, while Selene is ethereal.

I've long fancied this spelling over Celine. I don't know why you'd think it was less substantial than Judith and Miriam - because it's not biblical?

KrisMichelle put it the best.Selene is more ethereal, while Miriam and Judith are more solid.I think it has more to do with associations. Selene brings to mind a princess, while Miriam and Judith bring to mind working women (literary associations.)

I like it, but only pronounced "seh-LEE-nee".

I love it, and I'd flip to see a little girl named Selene. To me the name is very substantial. It's pretty, feminine, but unusual and strong. I think Judith and Selene sound absolutely fabulous together. Works well with Miriam too.

I like it a lot, but only pronounced se-LEEN. There are too many EE sounds in se-LEE-nee for it to be pleasant. I love it most as a middle name.

I adore it. I was considering it as a mn for our daughter. I was actually just at the Children's Museum this weekend and there was a little girl there (around 3) named Selene. Oh, and I tend to pronounce it as se-LEEN.

It has a nice sound to it and I love the meaning, but I agree that it seems less substantial than your other favourites. It looks and sounds so pretty, though.
