I know a family who named their youngest dd
Roberta, after Dad
Robert. The plan was to call her
Robin which worked until she was about three or four years old. When she discovered that her "real" name was
Roberta, there was no going back. She was adorable. Very strong willed. I wonder what she's up to by now. She'd be about 30 years old.
I love
Roberta. While I also share your preference for the "behr" pronunciation, and farbeit for me to turn down anything with a bear sound. But I can't see your pronunciation doing well here in the U.S., at least in the West. All in all it's still worth it though.
