[Opinions] Eve
I've loved the name Eve for over 8 years, and it has consistently been on my favorites list. However on my mother's side of the family there is already an Evie and an Evelyn (both are first cousins once removed). I live no where near these people and probably never will, though I do see them and visit with them occasionally.I almost don't want to use it because there are so many other great names that I could use. However the name sticks with me and doesn't want to let me go. I can't seem to stop thinking about it or considering it for a future daughter no matter how hard I try. I let it leave my favorites list and then it's right back on it before I know it. :)So my questions... Would it be odd to have three Eve type names in one family? Would this stop you from using the name?

Thanks everyone! The consensus seems to be for me to use it anyway. It helps to have people tell me that it's still usable in this situation. So thanks! :)

No and no. Use it. I love how understated Eve is and would use it if I could.

I'd probably go ahead and use it. What's the harm in one more Eve-y name? ;o)
If it's *the* name for you, use it, because you'll probably regret it if you don't. You could always use Eve as a nickname if you want to use an 'other great name' (Evadne, Genoveva, Genevieve, Ginevra, Guinevere?), if you like something else that lends to the nickname Eve. Edmund is my 'Eve', and while I don't have any other Ed-names in my family, I'm quite convinced that even if there were an Edgar and an Edward, I'd still use Edmund without thinking twice.

If you love it that much, then use it. Your other option is to use it as a mn of course.

I would still use it, especially if you hardly see them.
I have the same name as my mum's cousins' daughter (second cousin twice removed?) and even though we live only a few suburbs apart we never see each other except weddings and funerals and even then we barely speak - so not a problem at all for me!

I think it would be a cool family connection, not an oddity. I'd use it.

I would still use it if I had relatives with similar names. I love Eve only pronounced ee-vuh, though. I have an aunt named Susan Margaret. I see her pretty often and I even live with her mom and brother (my dad and grandma) and if I had a girl I would love to name her Margaret Sue (nn Maggie). Basically the same name, but I love it.

Hey, if you love it, you love it! I don't think it would be too much Eve within a family. It's a beautiful name, and honestly I think that your Eve is purer and stronger than cousins Evie and Evelyn. If I love a name enough, I honestly become blind to how much others may object to it or any other impediments in the way. I say go for it - keep it on your faves!
