I like it a lot. It used to just make me think of a pudgy, balding man, but it's grown on me quite a bit lately. I think it's approaching comeback status, though I'm not sure how popular it will actually get.

I adore it. I think it'll come back before too long.

It's in my top 10 list of Boy names, so I obviously adore it! It's old-fashioned, but I like that, I think it's so sophisticated, charming and handsome, it's perfect.

I actually think of Walter as being a young-sounding name. The only Walter I know is in the fifth grade now, and I've known his since he was born. I really like it, and I think Walt is a cute nn.

It's too old-fashioned for me, but it's definitely still usable, as long as he's called Walt. Think of Walt from Lost.

No! I would love to see a little Walter. I think it's darling. My mom met a little Walter (2-3 years old) recently and she said the name fit him so well. One of my best friends has a boyfriend named Walt (whom she's been with for like 6 years and will eventually marry), and he's the third, so I'm always telling her they should have a Walter IV if they ever had a son. I think Walt is such a handsome NN.

Not at all, Walter is great! I like it a lot, but I prefer the more Swedish spelling Valter.

Well, I know of a two-year-old Walter. A woman with whom my daughter became friends on a Mommies message board named her son, born the same month and year as my grandson, January 2008, Walter. I found it strange that she would use that name. I'm of the generation to whom it will always be an "old man name". That's just my age, I guess. I really can't stand the name, but the fact that I know of a two-year-old Walter makes me think it might be ready for a comeback.

No, I think it's adorable for a little boy! I really like it. Seems like something that would start becoming more popular soon, too.

I really, really like it and I would consider using it myself, either as a first name or as an honoring middle name (it was my father's name). I don't think it's too old fashioned or dated. I would be delighted if I met a little boy named Walter.
