[Facts] meaning of Anaximander
Anaximander was a Greek thinker way back when. According to the name list (Anaxagoras) the first part, "anax," means master. What does the second part mean? Or is it a modified form of "ander," man or men? Any help is appreciated.

It is quite possible that you are right: "anax" meaning king and "aner" meaning man.
On the other hand, another possible explanation would me "anax" and "mandra", meaning "an enclosed space, usually by walls". This fits in the name "Astyanax" (meaning "king of the city ("asty"). Will look into this and come back.
