I and everyone I know pronounce it as live.
I do think it is too short and nicknamey. I've never even thought of it as a name on it's own. I always think it is short for Olivia. Yes I think there are many Olivias who go by Liv. Livi is an okay nickname. Don't spell it with two v bcause then it looks like a w.
