I think Julie is kind of dated. I know about 5 - they're all my Mums friends so aged 40-50. However, I still think it's kind of cute and could work on a child.
I love Juliet, it's my favourite Ju- name. I think Julie would be a nice nickname for Juliet. I say Juliet with an emphasis on the first syllable, and Juliette with emphasis on the last syllable.
