I tend to vacillate on both of these names. Right now I prefer Liliana - as other posters have said, it's got a lot of nickname options, and that's a good thing. It's frilly, but the nns aren't. I've been kind of disliking Leah lately, mainly for the sound, but the meaning and the Bible story are unfortunate too.

Uhm this is my opinion!? Spanish names can be trashy too and what is lovely to you doesn't have to be lovely to others. I just think it is, there is something so insubstantial about it. Maybe it's because it is Lily+Ana (even though it's actually elaborated from Lillian). Maybe it's because I know one who is a golddigger. I'm not sure it just seems like a recent trendy invention (putting popular sounds together) even though it's not. I think it will be very dated and there will be lots of girls with similar names around.
I know I should be quiet because I like lots of trendy names, but I just dislike this one. You asked for my opinion and I gave it to you.

I don't think it's a horrible name or anything. I just have bad associations with it. I bet many people would actually like to have this name. Sorry if I was rude.

Is trashy harsh? Sorry :( I didn't mean it was a bad name in general, just that I have bad associations with it. I'm sure many people would like to be called Liliana.

I prefer Liliana. It's a bit frilly, but I still think it's nice and I love that you have a choice of nicknames (Lily, Lila, Lilia, Ana...)
Leah is a fine name, I certainly wouldn't be upset to see a baby called Leah, but I just don't think it's as nice as Liliana. I think it's the "lee" sound which I find a little harsh.

I like both names... I would need to flip a coin to decide. Leah... but it's just me being a bit indecisive when I like the names almost equally.
