[Opinions] Charlotte
I know it common, but i've always had a soft spot for Charlotte and the nn Lottie. I can't stand Charlie though, which probably puts me off using it, and the fact that i've never met a nice Charlotte, but still. Anyway what do you think?

Charlotte "Lottie" is adorable! A classic name, very pretty.

I LOVE the name and will name my daughter that if I ever have one. :DMy favourite nicknames are Lotta, Lotte (german) and Lola :)

Ah, I returned to the Opinions board just in time to cast one of the few (or maybe only) negative opinions of Charlotte. I'm assuming this, as I haven't read the other responses yet, but in the past this has been the case---mine is usually the only negative opinion amongst a sea of glowing responses.Anyhoo---I absolutely can't stand the name Charlotte. To me, it's one of the ugliest names out there, with a very strong frumpy image. All I can think of when I hear it is a short, middle-aged woman with frizzy mousy brown hair, thick glasses, and orthopedic shoes. The only Charlotte I've ever known was nice enough, but a little odd.

I've warmed to Charlotte, as the female form of Charles, and my S.O. lost his uncle named Charles earlier this year, so I've begun to think that it might be a nice middle name someday.I think it is classic, and popular, but not actually that used. I have only met one Charlotte, and that was when I was a little girl.

Completely agree with Lottie v. Charlie. I can't stand it either. But Lottie and Charlotte seem very sweet, yet sophisticated to me.

I used to really dislike it, but I've warmed up to it lately. It's a pretty name. I also dislike Charlie. Lottie makes a cute nn. :)

Charlotte is a staple on my lists. I love it. Even if my paternal grandmother whom I love and my piano teacher whom I love weren't named Charlotte, I'd still love it.

I think the same as you. I do love Charlotte.

I'm neutral on Charlotte; have never met one. I like Lottie as a nickname and don't care for Charlie.

I love Charlotte, popular or not. I still remember meeting my first RL Charlotte years and years ago. She was about 5 years older than me, and she was graceful, pretty, shrewd, and didn't suffer fools gladly. I thought she wore her name really well. I like both Lottie and Charlie, and I like how, no matter what a Charlotte's personality turns out to be, there is a nickname that would suit. If you can't stand Charlie, though, I agree Charlotte could be risky. I try not to believe in unavoidable nicknames, but Charlie seems to be today's trendy nickname of choice. That can make avoiding it harder.

Well, I knew a postively wonderful Charlotte a couple years ago. So they are out there!Personally, I don't mind Charlie on a girl, but there is nothing at all wrong with Lottie either. While Charlotte is not a name I would ever choose I don't dislike it for someone else's child either. It just is a little too popular for my liking is all.

I'm with you. Charlotte is soft and timeless and the nn Lottie is darling. But Charlie should definitely stay in the male column. I don't mind the odd male nn for a girl, but not here.
