Help[Opinions] How do you pronounce Leroy?
Leroy is a name I've been liking recently (I know, I know, but I really do like it and only as a MN), so I was wondering who you pronounce it? I pronounce Luh-roy (If you have ever watched the 50s movie The Bad Seed), but I know it's pronounced Lee-roy as well. Which way do you say it?

LEE-roy, with the emphasis on the first syllable.

I say Lee-roy. I've never heard it pronounced luh-roy.

LEE-roy. I don't care much for Luh-roy, it makes me think it should be spelled LaRoy.
Weird question, is there something wrong with Leroy? Everytime I see someone say they like it (not talking about here, specifically) it seems like people act like they shouldn't. I like Leroy myself, but then I do tend to like the "underdogs" of names. :P

Leroy is a stereotypical redneck name to me, also. And the only Leroy I've ever known WAS a stereotypical redneck. My next door neighbor when I was living out in the country in Texas. Not a bad guy, but a redneck. I don't want to violate his privacy by divulging his last name, but I will say that his last name made Leroy sound even more redneck than it does coupled with most other last names. I don't even remember why I ever mentioned him to my father, but when I did, my father laughed his head off because Leroy with that particular last name just screamed REDNECK.

LEE roy. I'd say luh RWA if I was reading French, and it was two words.

Honestly, every time I look at it, I pronounce it differently each time! I do like Luh-roy better than Lee-roy though.

I pronounce it Lee-roy, but I don't like it. I've never heard it Luh-roy. I like that though. The only other pronunciation I've heard is in French, luh-wah. I like that too.

I'm on the LEE-roy bandwagon. I've known two Leroys, one old and one my age. Both were LEE-roy.
