Gabriel gets my vote. I think it's so handsome and strong and I love the meaning of the name.

GabrielI like that Gabriel is... angelic? and Sebastian seems harsh and trendy in comparison

Sebastian. Thanks to Loeb, Vettel and Ogier, I think of Sebastian as a winners name and for some unknowable reason I not keen on names that begin with the letter G.

GabrielI hate Sebastian. It's so very ugly, and it just feels slimy and weak to me.

GabrielAs I absolutely loathe Sebastian (sorry). It sounds boring and conceited to me.

SebastianIt's one of my all time favorites. I do like Gabriel as well, but not nearly as much. It's a bit too biblical.

Sebastian. I have a Sebastian, and he is the sweetest boy. I actually didn't love the name when we first named him, but it was the only name we agreed on. It suits him so well, I now Love his name. I also like Gabriel, but maybe it's just my accent, but I find it a little feminine, and soft. I guess it doesn't help that I've know a few Gabrielle's, and Gabriella's.

I prefer Gabriel I think it's a really handsome name and a nice meaning. Sebastian is growing on me, I thought it was a bit long and boring as I knew a few Sebastian's and one wasn't very nice, so I wasn't fond of the name but I like it a lot more know but I much prefer Gabriel as it seems really elegant and historical to me.

Gabriel. Sebastian will forever remind me of a little angry red crab.

Sebastian because I like Seb and Sebbie while I dislike Gabe.
Nicknames aside though, I generally prefer the sound of Sebastian too.

GabrielDefinitely Gabriel, although it's hard to articulate the reason. They're both elegant but Gabriel is more approachable than Sebastian.
I especially like the sort of Tolkien-elf-like sound of the "iel" ending. Or maybe it's the whole "briel" sound. It gives the name a bit of a magical vibe.
And the "stian" sound in Sebastian kind of catches in the middle and makes it harder to say. I still like Sebastian but Gabriel is a lot better IMO.

I find saints less off-putting than angels, names-wise. And I prefer Seb to Gabe or Gay as a nn. Plus, there are too many girls named Gabrielle who go by Gabby!

Sebastian(: Just prefer it more

GabrielGabriel is so much better. Sebastian isn't bad and it's got nice nickname options, but Gabriel is one of the best names out there. It's soft and strong at the same time and it's got a lovely meaning and history.

GabrielI have an issue with the name Sebastian, I hear "bashed in" which sounds violent.

Sebastian...prefer the meaning. But I like the sound of both.

SebastianWhy?.....because I prefer the S sound to the G sound. And I must admit I would love a son whose NN was Bash!

I have Gabriel on my list. And it comes across as fun loving and sweet, which I like. So I'd have to go for Gabriel. I am slightly crushing on Sebastian after hearing a mother calling her son, but she made it sound so gentle and beautiful. It just sounds okay when I say it.

Both are nice,, I can't manage to pick one over the other.

GabrielI just think it's nicer. Sebastian has a somewhat dark and sinister flavour to me.

Sebastian. It has a nicer sound to it imo. Hate the nicknames Seb and Bastian though.I've never been a fan of the name Gabriel (or Gabrielle). To me, the hard G with B sounds harsh.

Sebastian.I don't like either, but if I had to choose, Sebastian. It at least has an elegance Gabriel lacks, and it at least does not have the nickname Gabe.

Gabriel. I just think it sounds much nicer. Sebastian makes me think of the lobster in The Little Mermaid and it also makes me think sea bastard.
