[Opinions] Alice or Clarice? (more)
Hi !!!I used to like Alice (English pr) since I was a child but now it became quite boring.Recently I found the name Clarice and I think it is lovely, bright and complete. So I thought that I loved Alice mostly because of its sound that is in Clarice too.Alice or Clarice?

I prefer Alice which I find simple and beautiful. Clarice is pretty too, but in the US they usually pronounce it Cla REECE which isn't attractive to me

I'd use Alice tomorrow, in spite of having used it on a cat!Where I live, Clarice is at best moribund. I love Clare, though.

Personally, I wouldn't pronounce Alice and Clarice the same (live in England).Alice = ah-LYSS
Clarice = clah-REESI love Alice, it's high in my top 10, I think it's all those things you think of Clarice. I don't find it boring, I find it pretty kickass, actually.

I really like Clarice with the pronunciation you suggest and it is a valid one. I would choose that over Alice. But I think cla-REES is more common and I like Alice better than that.

I think I prefer Alice but I find it really boring. Clarice just makes think of Silence of the Lambs.

I love Clarice, always have! I also think Alice is boring. I only like the Cla-REES pr though.

Alice is a 9/10, Clarice is a 8/10. I love Alice but I completely understand how it can be seen as boring. It used to be in my top three but I also got bored so I took it off. It's still such a lovely name to me, though, and I might use it for a future cat some day. I think Clarice is lovely. I have a great-aunt named Clarice and she's really lovely. It also reminds me of "The Silence of the Lambs" with Clarice Starling, one of the best protagonists ever. It does feel a little dated, but not in a bad way.

I like both about the same but think I'd vote for Clarice.

I much prefer Alice. Clarice has a sort of wicked witch image for me.

I love Alice and prefer it to Clarice, though I do like Clarice as well. My only issue with Clarice is that when I hear it I automatically think "Hello, Clarice" in my head because 'Silence of the Lambs' is where I heard the name for the first time.

I pronounce Alice and Clarice differently. I think that I would like Clarice, but it's so heavily associated with Silence of the Lambs that I can't think of it apart from that. I haven't even seen Silence of the Lambs, but "Hello, Clarice!" is so deeply entrenched that it's all I hear when I hear the name!

I pronounce Alice (AL-is) & Clarice (kla-REES) differently, and while both are pretty, I much prefer Alice. Alice isn't overly popular in the U.S. and will sound sweet on a child & chic on an adult. Other than it's unfortunate association with "The Silence of the Lambs," Clarice just sounds a bit dated to me. Wishing you the best of luck!
