I think it's boring and overrated.

It doesn't top the list for my personal taste, but I think it's nice and classic. It's refined. I would think well if I met a little Nicholas.

same level of 'cant go wrong with it but is kinda boring' as Alexander.Dislike the nickname Nick but Nicholas full is fine.

I would have considered it for a son; DH however said firmly when I was pregnant that he would never send his boy out into the world without underpants.

I... don't get it?I'm sorry, I don't understand your husband's comment. Why doesn't Nicholas have underpants?

Nicholas is an old, old favorite. When I first started paying attention to names it was among my Top 10. Then it dropped off the list some time in college, and stayed off the list. For a long time. Now it's back, and I don't foresee it leaving! (My whole boys list seems pretty solidified now.)I used to struggle with middle names for Nick, though. In real life I've encountered Andrew, Anthony, and Patrick as middle names - and I honestly don't really like any of them (Anthony edges out ahead of the others as a middle name, though - at least there's no "Tony"). I cycled through Connor, Owen, Ronan, and Rowan as middle names mainly, before remembering that Caleb existed.

I think it's beautiful, and it doesn't make me think of any one particular type of person, which is good.

Nicholas is a solid classic. I like the history and meaning and would consider using it.The only drawback is Nick as a nickname. Nico is a bit fresher.

Timeless and classic. Love it.

I love it. It's rich in history. It's high on our list because St Nicholas is the patron saint of Greece. I particularly like the meaning of Nicholas. The nickname possibilities are fun too. Nick, Claus, Cole, Nico, etc. I wanted Cole, but SO doesn't like it. I'll probably push for Claus because it has personal meaning for us. To me, it sounds like it belongs on royalty.
