I vote Richard. Christopher is also a handsome classic name, but the inevitable nickname Chris feels more modern than classic to me.

It depends on what feel you have in mind. Richard, which I'm neutral about, feels "nice uncle or neighbour" to me, and is very timeless. Christopher, which I love (especially with the nickname Kit) which is more "your best friend, who is much more popular than you, but who is kind to everyone, who you attend either a posh all-male school OR Oxbridge, OR one of the Ivy League schools with between the years 1870 and 1970 who dies either of a) consumption b) drowning c) Mysterious Circumstances. But that's just me.

I left a comment on your Richard post regarding my liking of the name and family history, but an additional reason I would choose Richard over Christopher:Do you know how many guys named Chris that I know?!?! Too many, that's how many. Couple that with the gals named Chris, or Christi / Christie, and there are just too many dang Chrises in this world.

Richard is fresher and doesn't need a nn. And on a non-Christian, Christopher is a bit odd.
