I like
Madeline. It looks neater and tidier, and unFrench, which helps with the pronunciation!
Magdalene really doesn't work for me. I'd assume that the final -e was sounded, making it almost but not quite
Magdalena, which is the default version where I live. And if it isn't sounded, then it would serve to lengthen the -e- so you'd end up with Magdaleen. And I heartily dislike -een names.
The version I prefer is
Magdalen, which pretty much rhymes with
Madeline! And, as you point out, it also solves the Mad problem.
