I don't like it at all, but oddly I like Lysandra on a girl.

Lysander is an interesting name and I would normally like it but the "lice" part really stands out to me. I prefer Sander, Leander, and Evander.

I like Lysander. I, too, fell in love with it after reading A Midsummer Night's Dream. Unfortunately, DH doesn't like it. He doesn't like that the first syllable sounds like "lice." Ylva also mentioned Leander, a name that I also just ADORE ... but DH shot that down as well, saying that it would be too easy to make fun of by rhyming it with Neanderthal.

I quite like Lysander but would he be called Lys or Lyssy as nn? I also like Leander, and Lysandra for a girl. There is even Leandra for a girl, I'm not quite sure what I think about this.

I really like it. It's on my favorite list, but it's never made it into my top thirty. Still, I think it's lovely, and I'd very much like to hear it on someone else's child.
