As a teenager, I preferred this to Cassandra as a "Cass" name. I still like the sound of it. Though I prefer it as a feminine name, a man can pull it off - but in my eyes he'd need to be more Butch Cassidy than Keith Partridge for it to truly work.

I've always liked it. Not enough to use, but I think it's kind of cool. I've never met a Cassidy; it wasn't very popular when I was born (mid-500s), so it doesn't really feel dated to any particular era to me.

I agree with your assessment of it. It seems similar to names like Bailey, very insubstantial to me. I've never liked it. It also always make me think of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Where I live, there's a range of adult female clothing called Miss Cassidy, which is made for largeish ladies who want to look at least somewhat fashionable. So that doesn't help; nor does Hopalong!

I knew a Cassie a long time ago, and she was very elderly then: in her case it was a nn for Catherine; the closest she could get to her name when she was a tiny child.

I like it. I wouldn’t choose it myself but I like it. I knew a guy named Cassidy born in the 70’s. I think it goes well for a boy or a girl. Surprised it didnt become more popular in the states as it seems like a name that would have.

As surnames on girls go, it's one of the few that I find mostly unobjectionable. I think because it sounds close to Cassie. Not that I'm a huge fan of Cassie, but what I mean is that Cassie is an established feminine name.

I like it for a boy. It sounds earthy and green. I like the nn Cass, too. On a girl it sounds very 90s and bubblegum pink, which I dislike greatly.
