I think the sound is ugly (Jezzib, ew), but I like the sound of Mehetabel, so I guess I can't judge.I also have zero good/neutral associations with it, which is even less than Judas and Lilith. I do think of Jeb vaguely, but I don't like that.

Mehetabel is always one I wanted to like but never could! It reminds me of meat. And meatballs. Yet I do like Jezebel!

Awful. Murder, human sacrifices, and religious persecution aren't great things to be associated with. It isn't in good taste to use a child's name to make light of people who are most famous for acts of cruelty. Think of other people who are famous for acts of cruelty like Genghis Khan, Heinrich Himmler or Saddam Hussein, and then imagine someone wanting to name someone after one of them. If you really just like the name of the sound rather than feeling titillated by the 'bad girl' image, then maybe name a cat Jezebel. After she died from a fall (she was pushed), her body was eaten by ferral dogs, so it would feel off to name a dog that.

Not really. I’m not personally religious so I don’t equate biblical characters with infamous real life bad guys like Hitler or Hussein..I doubt most people who used Jezebel did it to name it after the biblical one. I’m sure they, like me, just find it a pretty name.

I think it seems more unlucky to name a cat that than a dog, if I'm being superstitious.Maybe a pet snake.

Good point about the cat. A snake or perhaps a tarantula or a betta fish named Jezebel could work. A pot bellied pig named Jezebel would be funny.

I'm pro-Jezebel. I like it.

Not particularly attractive, and with no pleasing nns. I don't take the biblical reference seriously, but others might.

Ok for a pet.

It might be a good name for a cat.

I hate it! Never, ever, ever, will I change my mind about this name. Ever. I don’t know why anyone would use it tbh.

I like it. The bible story doesn't bother me, I think it's a cool name.

Hard No From Me...I would choose Delilah over Jezebel. But they both have awful origins.

"I would choose Delilah over Jezebel. But they both have awful origins."
Yeah, Jezebel was definitely worse than Delilah. Delilah is like a watered down but better looking Judas figure.
Jezebel and Ahab were corrupt and sadistic rulers so the scale and ability to misues power was different. It is weird how people take men who committed atrocities more seriously. Nobody in their right mind tries to act like Genghis is a great namesake for a human, but, when women are cruel rulers, it's suddenly "Yas Queen, slay!" and her name pops up all the time.
