I have a long history of back-and-forth with this name. There was a significant period where it was my favorite feminine name, popularity be damned - I was like, "My future daughter will be Charlotte Olivia Florence," boom! Done.Then... something happened. I woke up one day and hated Charlotte! Maybe the excessive popularity was to blame, but I suddenly despised Charlotte. On more than one occasion on these boards I compared her sound to a "flabby feather." :-PLuckily, the hatred died down, and Charlotte slowly but surely became palatable again. Given her popularity I doubt I'd use her as a first name in the future, but she's part of my stock combo Felicity Charlotte.

I strongly dislike like it, I think its rather dull and whiney (sorry!). I can never unsee/unhear "harlot".

I used to despise it because of bad experiences living in a certain city in North Carolina, but when I finally moved and got over the association, I started to love it! It's been in my long list for years now.

It's not quite to the level of "would definitely use if it weren't top 10," but I'd consider it. I like it, though it's both popular and traditional it doesn't feel boring. It's pretty and sweet.

I know a lot of people think it's overused but I love it. It was my grandmother's name, and she was my most favorite person in the world. Most of my cousins have used her name in some way, either Charlotte or Ann (her middle name). If I were to ever have a daughter I would seriously consider using Charlotte. And though my grandma used the nickname Char, I prefer the nickname Lottie or Ottie. I've known a few other Chars and didn't like them so much lolBut yeah, it's a pretty name that has an old fashioned charm but doesn't feel dated.
