It's borderline all right on a boy or a girl, I guess. I imagine most people think of a plant when they hear the name Sage. I think of a sage, though -- a person who is wise. For that reason it seems like naming your child Teacher or Guru or something similar. So overall Sage as a name sounds presumptuous to me.

This is one of the few names I like for either gender. That said, I still prefer this name for a girl and it’s actually been on our list since either our 1st or 2nd pregnancy and still on the list now. It is nice on a boy too though.

Sage on a boy is actually really handsome and cute. One of the most legitimate unisex names in my eyes. I also like the history behind Sage, wonderful etymology.Fun Fact Nobody Cares About: My Mom LOVES to burn sage in the house.

It works for me. It actually makes more sense for me as a boy's name although I'm not sure why. Maybe because it reminds me of Basil? I am pretty sure I knew a boy with the middle name Sage. I used to run in the kinds of circles where people would call their kids that sort of thing. It gives me 90s witchcraft sort of vibes, which is a nice nostalgic feeling for me. I like it!

I think Sage sounds lovely on a boy. I don't see it as particularly linked to any gender.
