[Opinions] Combinations based off of the parent's names
Parents giving their children a combination of their names is very common in the Philippines. Recently I met someone whose name was created by combining her parents' names: Azucena and Melchor. Her name was Azumelch. I think that the best combination I've seen is Chrisella (Crisogono and Elena). Here are some other combinations I've seen:Arman (Arvie and Emmanuel)
Crisminda (Cristoffer and Luzviminda)
Pauliza (Paulo and Elizabeth)
Jhowin (Josephine and Erwin)
Laurelyn (Lorenzo and Jennylyn)
Mercybert (Mercedes and Roberto)
Celestica (after the grandparents, Celestino and Rustica)
Adeliosa (after the grandmas, Adelina and Liliosa)Wdyt of parents naming their kid a combination of their names? What are some names you've seen following this trend?

The first and only time I've heard of this is from a Karenise (Carlos + Denisse) and I thought it was so interesting, I had no idea it was a Filipino trend! I had assumed they were South American or something from the names.I think it's a really cute and unique idea if pulled off nicely. Some of them however maybe should have reconsidered (Mercybert??) 😅

Oh I've seen a lot of people who was named after their family tree. Not just named after their mother and father, but the whole family starting from the grandparents from mom and dad's side, the uncle and dad's name, then the mother and dad's name combined into one name. All the family member name literally fits into a name, lol.Wdyt of parents naming their kid a combination of their names?
I think it's fine, as long as the ratio between the vocal and consonant letters are balanced. What are some names you've seen following this trend?
An example is the American YouTuber, GloZell Green (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/GloZell). Her name is the combination of her mother's name (Gloria) and her father's name (Ozell).

Mercybert! My gosh, so adorable. I love this idea, honestly, although I'm not clever enough to think of many combinations, and sometimes it can produce ghastly results! But it can also be really interesting and it's a great idea for making names for stories. My city has an enormous Filipino community so names like this are actually not too uncommon here! One example I can think of was when I heard of someone called Somerly after a combo of both parents, somehow. Pronounced "Summerly" which at the time I thought was really pretty.

This is actually a practice the author Anne McCaffrey established when world building her fictional universe in the Dragonriders of Pern series, children are often named combining either parent or grandparent names. F'lar and Lessa had a son, Flessen for instance to name one.
