I like both, but would only use Holly for a Christmastime baby but I love the association with Breakfast at Tiffany’s. But ultimately I prefer Molly.Ivy is one I’m considering as it’s a family name.

Ivy, because Holly is dated and Ivy hasn’t become dated yet (but probably will). I’ve never warmed to Holly, or Ivy for that matter, they seem similar. Holly seems friendlier than Ivy.

I personally would choose Holly.

Ivy definitely.

Ivy!

Ivy, just because it has a longer history of human-name usage. I don't enjoy either.

Ivy.Holly is cheerful, festive, and sweet.Ivy is dark, but or reminds me of sunrises and soft candy.I never been much of a fan of Holly, to be frank.

Holly sounds cheerful
Ivy sounds dark, poison

I’m going with Holly. Ivy just makes me think of poison Ivy.

Very different imagery in my mind!Holly feels friendly, warm, and down to earth. It really does feel, well, jolly! I have known a few Hollys, ranging from almost 70 to early 20s. I guess I haven't met any little Hollys in a while, so maybe it is rather dated.Ivy feels fresh again because it's so much older. It's pure icy Edwardian grace. Ivy is artistic, edgy, sharp, clever. Maybe even a little dark and malevolent, but in a fun way. Like a favourite villain. I prefer Ivy, I've loved it since I was a teenager. There's something invigorating about Ivy, I love the sounds and the way that V just slices through things. I think I might love V's actually, they add so much power to a name. R's too. Strong letters.

I knew of a family where the daughter was named Ivy, her brothers Elijah (Eli) and Leviticus (Levi) Their parents loved a long i sound I suppose! Anyway, I enjoy botanical names and these are among my favorites. I prefer Iva over Ivy though - it avoids some of the teasing like poison ivy. My 2nd great-grandfather was named Holly. He went by Hal. I like Holly just a wee bit better than Ivy.
